Paul Table Linen
Paul Table Linen
What’s your table wearing at breakfast tomorrow? Paul is a cool, sophisticated floral print that has you thinking of lazy mornings on the Ionian Sea. Navy and sea blue with hints of grey on a white background capture the ocean in all her moods. The wide border of florals and paisley adds a certain charm. We love this paired with simple cream or white table wear, and platters filled with chocolate croissants and steaming mugs of coffee. Pair with a jug of wildflowers just picked on your walk back from a sunrise dip in the sea.
Size 60” wide x 90” long and fits a table for 4-6 people with mid-drop
This hand blocked cotton tablecloth is made in our Jaipur, India studio using a centuries’ old technique of applying each color by hand to build the pattern. Each tablecloth is handprinted on long tables by Indian artisans.
Jaipur, long known as the center for block printing, is located in the Rajasthan desert, about 3 hours south of Delhi.
In open air print studios, the pattern is applied using hand carved wooden blocks. The more intricate the pattern, the more blocks are required. Each block represents an element of the pattern. My favorite part of the print studio is the sound the block makes on the fabric. Print tables are lined and padded and the sound is best described as a soft, satisfying thud. The artist moves quickly and efficiently, leaving the pattern in his wake.
Once printed, the tablecloth is hung to dry. When the dyes have set, each piece is washed, dried and then finished in the sewing studio.
Each tablecloth is inspected one last time, pressed and then carefully packaged and sent to Beaumont House.
Look closely at your tablecloth. You’ll notice there may be small irregularities - the true hallmark of a handmade piece.
Size:
Rectangle approximately 60” wide x 90” long; and fits a table for 4-6 people with a mid-drop.
Care instructions:
Machine wash cold / tumble dry low / warm iron or steam
To avoid ironing, remove from dryer as soon as tablecloth is dry and fold.
For a smooth look on the table, place on table and smooth with your hand. Many times, I will place the tablecloth down a few hours before sitting at the table and give it a light spritz from a spray bottle and smooth. The folds will work themselves out.
